FogLight Data Consulting is a consultancy that focuses on helping companies make better use of their information assets and leverage internal data for increasing direct and e-mail marketing effectiveness.
David Tjen, Founder & Principal
It was founded by David Tjen, an information technology and marketing professional with over 10 years of experience in designing, building and providing intelligent solutions for direct marketing applications. Through a unique blend of technical and business skills, Mr. Tjen has helped customers such as San Francisco Opera, Kodak EasyShare Gallery (formerly Ofoto), CafePress.com, and ZipRealty develop and utilize customer-centric data marts for marketing applications.
Before founding FogLight Data Consulting, Mr. Tjen was a Senior Consultant with i-loft, a small marketing consulting firm located in San Francisco where he managed marketing system implementations at San Francisco Opera, the University of California Athletics Department and Vivendi-Universal Games.
Prior to joining i-loft, Mr. Tjen held a number of positions at Brio Software, most recently as a Senior Product Manager for Brio's flagship business intelligence software suite. Before joining the product development staff, Mr. Tjen was a Senior Staff Consultant in Brio's professional services organization, providing expertise in deploying Brio's solutions at numerous client sites. His first experience at Brio was as an IT Project Manager where he implemented a sales force automation solution to direct and inside sales teams.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Tjen was a business analyst at Sybase, where he developed innovative and intuitive reporting and analytic solutions.
Mr. Tjen holds a BA in Social Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the Haas School of Business. As a part of his MBA studies, he studied abroad for a semester at École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Paris, France. Mr Tjen currently resides in Oakland, California.
